Pendulum

In each sweet succession
we swing together
In each slight progression
we grow apart

One moment our eyes latch together
in the span of a blink
The next instant we're estranged lovers
miles from our previous link

up and down
back and forth
we move from place to place
completing our journey
around an entire arc

Two separate bodies
unknowlingly in anticipation
awaiting the next occasion
when we will be one again
as we oscillate from end to end
